The Statue of Liberty, Momoishi

Feb 2007 - Well, seeing as how we didn't get the super bowl today because our satellite was on the fritz, we ventured out to do some sightseeing. We drove about 20 minutes south to a small town of about 10,000, named Momoishi. A park called Icho Park (literally meaning gingko, for the gingko trees,) hosts one of the most famous landmarks around this area - The Statue of Liberty! Yep, in Japan! It was erected here because Momoishi is on the same latitude as New York City. It stands about 11.5 meters high, which is 1/4 of the original size in New York. You can't get the full effect from the pictures, but as you can probably tell, she is quite manly looking. Almost like a transvestite Statue of Liberty. Seriously, look at her arm and face! Scary. Anyway, as a side note - there are over 700 Cherry Blossom trees that are in Icho Park, so I can't wait for Spring to see them in bloom.

There was also this rope-swing-pulley-thing, that was pretty entertaining, too.

The largest slide I've ever seen is also in Icho Park. It's 300 ft. long! (Yes, it was fun!)
